About

Mark was appointed as the Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Korea for Arizona in 2019. He recently authored a new book entitled: Love People—the true life story of Mark Anderson—missionary, lawmaker, judge. It is available on Amazon.

Mark is a former State legislator and former Justice of the Peace. He was first elected to the Arizona State Legislature in 1994, representing the city of Mesa for 14 years, serving in both the State House and State Senate.

In 2010 Mark was elected to the position of Justice of the Peace for the West Mesa Justice Court. In his first year as a judge, Mark resolved a backlog of over 100 jury trial cases that were over a year old, instituted a life skills program for defendants, and authored legislation to modernize the Justice Court statutes.

During his time in the legislature, Representative Anderson authored numerous significant pieces of legislation. To mention a few: a tuition tax credit program enabling parents to send their children to Christian and private schools, a charity tax credit which has generated millions of dollars a year for non-profits helping low income people, marriage skills courses to reduce the divorce rate, a prison transition program to insure inmates can succeed after getting out of prison thereby reducing crime and cost to the justice system, and a bill to remove junk food from the public schools.

Mark has been published numerous times in newspapers such as the Arizona Republic, East Valley Tribune and appeared in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Washington Times, and Chicago Tribune. Mark has testified before Congress regarding the issue of strengthening marriage.

Finally, Mark has traveled to a number of countries to do service projects with RYS and other service groups including Honduras, Trinidad, Mexico, Thailand, Ukraine, Ecuador, and Zambia.

Judge Anderson was married in 1982 and he and his wife Lucia have three children and eight beautiful grandchildren. Lucia passed away in January of 2026.
